“Learning to see the scale as nothing more than a tool could be what allows you to unlock a healthier relationship both with food and with yourself. The scale does not make you lose weight. Changes to your routines and behaviors do.” – Elizabeth Josefsberg
For awhile now every Thursday we’ve taken a moment to reflect on the positive, healthy changes we’ve made. Too many of us base our success just on the number we see on the scale, but there is so much more to it! All the little changes we make are helping us make a healthier lifestyle. Whether you lost weight this week or not, let’s celebrate your non-scale victories! So whether you said no to that birthday cake in the office, ran a 5k, or tracked your food every day this week. . . it is time to celebrate!
My non-scale victory this week:
I’ve been so busy lately! The weekend was crazy and it has carried over to this week. I was running around all weekend getting ready for a bridal shower I was hosting with the other bridesmaids for one of my best friends. The wedding shower seemed to be a success and everyone said they had a nice time, but with any shower there is also a lot of unhealthy food! To make matters worse we all attended our other friend’s baby shower the day before. Needless to say there was a lot of cake, cupcakes, and desserts around this weekend.
The cupcake dress for the shower was so nice! I did eat one cupcake and it was delicious!
But, at the end of the shower when we were cleaning up the mother of the bride was packing up boxes of the cupcakes and tried to give me a dozen. I told her no and that I needed to be strict on my diet starting Monday and she responded that it was tomorrow and could take them today. Of course she wasn’t implying that I eat them all, but give them to my family. However, I knew that if I took that box that I would eat more. So, I resisted the temptation and politely said no and that I needed to be good on my diet. I mean I need to fit in that bridesmaid’s dress, right?
I walked away from those delicious cupcakes and have been good all week. I went to the grocery store to have plenty of healthy food stocked, have planned out my meals, and I’ve tracked. I’m feeling great being organized and feel more in control. It’s been a good week so far!
