It’s that time again!
Too many of us base our success just on the number we see on the scale, but there is so much more to it! All the little changes we make are helping us make a healthier lifestyle. Whether you lost weight this week or not, let’s celebrate your non-scale victories! So whether you said no to that birthday cake in the office, ran a 5k, or tracked your food every day this week. . . it is time to celebrate!
I’m feeling great this week! Well, for some medical reasons I wasn’t really able to exercise this week, but I feel really motivated. I was bummed that I couldn’t make my classes at the gym, but we all need to put our health first. I mean I’m doing all this to be more healthy so it is always suggested to follow your personal doctor’s advice. Not that you need me to tell you that.
Anyway. . . I’m feeling motivated and happy with myself. I went shopping and avoided the major Halloween displays of candy. Those Reese’s pumpkins are mighty tempting though! Honestly though if you put a bag of those near me they’d be gone. Bad news bears.
With all my on again/off again business I’ve learned that my major weakness is that I can’t moderate. Certain triggers or my food weaknesses if I have them in the house I will not eat the suggested serving size. I need to just eliminate them from my life. I was majorly like that with diet coke. I know I’ve talked about it before, but I drank SO much diet coke. It was ridiculous looking back. Now I don’t drink any pop, at all! So, as much as I wish I could moderate certain foods (or drinks), I really can’t. I’m learning my limits.
So my NSV for the week is avoiding the Halloween displays and stocking my food with only friendly items. In a Weight Watcher’s meeting a few weeks ago they pointed out that-
if you say no to something in the grocery store you only have to say it once. If you bring it home then you have to say no over and over again until the item is gone.
Or something to that effect, basically. Just easier to say no once! At least for me I need to do that. I’ve planned all week and I’m feeling good. I’m ready to tackle my habits one by one!
** As an additional note – If you are someone who can moderate and just love candy another member at WW shared what she does around Halloween and I thought it was an interesting strategy. She knows she technically can have that extra 49 weekly points. So she puts in one bag 49 points worth of Halloween candy. That’s all she keeps in her house. She knows that the week of Halloween that if she really wants it then she can have it, if she stays within her points. Obviously eating 49 points worth of candy isn’t probably the best, but better to have it already sorted and no other candy in the house if it is something you really love for that holiday.
I actually did this strategy with Christmas cookies last year. With all the cookie exchanges I only kept 49 points worth of cookies in a bag and limited myself to only them.
Linkup and share your NSVs!
